New RHCE troubleshooting practice script

I've completely re-written the troubleshooting practice script using BASH instead of PERL. There are now 20 problems it will give you to practice with. It assumes the same default setup as the original, but the syntax is a little different. To get the script, log in as root and run the following command: wget http://cit.wvup.edu/calmond/ts; mv ts /sbin/ts; chmod 755 /sbin/ts

This should download the script and make it executable. To run it, log in as root and simply type ts with no parameters and the help menu will describe how to use the script. You can also download it directly here

As before, the script is free to use, but not to redistribute or modify

RHCE Troubleshooting practice script

I've just finished writing my first version of a troubleshooting practice tool for my students. It is a perl script that will create a problem on your system, give you some minor directions, and give you a hint about the problem. If you can't fix the problem, it also has an option to fix the problem for you and explain.

The script is free to use, but not to redistribute or modify
For information, help, or ideas, contact me by e-mail with the subject RHCETS

Use this program as root, to generate configuration errors on your system, and troubleshoot them.
Your system should be configured as follows:
/boot as a 100 MB partition
/tmp as a 250 MB partition
/home as its own partition
/ as its own partition

To set up a problem, enter the command ts.pl <#> where # is the number of the problem you want to create
If you can't figure out the problem, you can type ts.pl hint <#> and it will give you a hint
If you still can't figure out the problem, you can type ts.pl fix <#> and it will fix the problem and
explain it.

Currently, there are 10 problems it will generate for you to practice with

Good Luck!

You may download the script here
