Starting Monday, Oct. 10 through Friday, Nov. 11 of 2011, WVU Parkersburg’s Student Government Association (SGA) and Student Engagement Activities (SEA) will be collecting items to send overseas for our troops. These “Care Packages” will be sent out Nov. 14, 2011.

The Care Packages bring comfort to our service men and women abroad to let them know we appreciate their service, and – most importantly – that they are not forgotten. Every item donated counts!

    Please show your support

YOU CAN DONATE ITEMS FOR THE CARE PACKAGES IN THE FOLLOWING WAYS

     1.         In one of the four marked barrels located on campus:

    a.      Between President’s office and Student Welcome Center

    b.      In Student lounge outside of Student Government Office

    c.       East entrance, inside and to the right

    d.      West entrance ‘banana wing’

    2.         Drop off to SGA office Rm. 1409 or Tom Yencha (Director of Student Activities) Rm 1407, both located right off of the student lounge. Offices are open Monday through Friday 8am-4pm. Contact number: SGA 304-424-8308 or Tom Yencha 304-424-8309.

Or YOU CAN DONATE MONEY (BY CASH OR CHECK*) BY FRIDAY, NOV. 11:

We will also accept monetary donations to purchase items for the Care Packages and pay for postage.  It costs a flat rate of $12.95 to send one ‘care package’ box, size 12”x12”x5 ½” so your support is imperative! To donate money, you can drop it off in one of two locations:

     A.      Tom Yencha, Room 1407, 304-424-8309.

    B.      Abigail Bowers in the Student Services Office, Room 1209, 304-424-8209.

(Offices are open Monday through Friday 8am-4pm.) *Please make checks payable to WVUP

There will be an upgrade of the college’s main router scheduled for Friday morning, between 7 am and 8 am.  During this time, there will limited availability of local resources (printers, file servers), but there will be no Internet access.  Everything should be back up and running before within a few minutes of the upgrade.

On Monday at 10:50 a.m. after classes, we ask that you please join us to participate in a community photo in the clock tower plaza on the main campus.

We will be taking the photo from an aerial view, and we want as many people as possible to participate in honor of the college’s 50th anniversary.

Afterward, head to the courtyard for our Founders Week campus kickoff event featuring food and live entertainment.

We hope to see you there!
