West Virginia University at Parkersburg is launching WVUP-mail, a new student e-mail system, to replace the current MIX system through WVU.  It’s easy to use and you will be able to access your account anytime – anywhere you have Internet access.

The new system will unify the college’s student information systems.  This is the first step in  providing student’s ONE ID for all systems.

Your new email address will be username@wvup.edu. The username that is referenced is the same as your eCampusID.

After you set up your WVUP-mail account, you must set your MIX account to forward to the new system and manually forward your old messages from MIX to the new system.

All MIX accounts will be deleted May 31, 2009.

Here are easy instructions to set up your WVUP-mail account and forward your MIX email:

Students already enrolled in classes at WVU-P can register online beginning today for both summer and fall classes. You will need to log in to OLSIS in order to register. Be sure to speak to your adviser before registering to make sure you are on track to graduate.

If you have room in your schedule, there are a couple of good electives coming up that you should consider. Both are offered as Special Topics classes, since they have never been taught before. The first is a class (CIT 397) on VMware Infrastructure 3, taught during the first four-week session of the summer. The second class is being offered as both a 297 and 397 elective, so students can get upper-level elective credit if they need it. This class covers administering a Microsoft SQL Server. Both of these are skills that are in demand, so look for them when you sign up!

The WV Consortium for Internationalizing Higher Education is sponsoring a one-week course for (primarily) first-year students at Laval University in Quebec City. If you are interested, you can submit a statement of interest (online at http://simpleforms.scripts.wvu.edu/intlprog/HEPC/) by Friday, March 27. Submitting the online statement of interest does not commit you to anything; it will be used by the statewide selection committee to screen applicants.
